| Mission
Statement
The mission of the Institute is to promote leadership and public policy education at Roger Williams University and in the municipalities and non-profit organizations within the region. Accordingly, the Institute for Public Policy shall,
- Assist the region’s public sector and non-profit institutions with their public policy and public service delivery challenges,
- Facilitate the delivery of innovative graduate and undergraduate degree and professional certificate programs in public administration, leadership and related fields,
- Provide support to RWU faculty and students engaged in leadership and public policy-related research and education,
- Facilitate and disseminate leadership and public policy-related research and information reflecting University and Institute opinions.
Our mission will
be served by:
- Assisting the region’s public-sector and non-profit institutions with their public-policy and public-service delivery challenges.
- Promoting, stimulating and conducting timely and significant research collaborations between the academic and practitioner constituencies of Public Administration.
- Providing structural and administrative support to RWU faculty and students engaged in public policy-related research and education.
- Facilitating and disseminating public policy-related research, and information reflecting public policy-related University and Institute opinions.
- Facilitating the delivery of innovative graduate and undergraduate degree and professional certificate programs in public administration and related fields by the various colleges and schools of the University, thereby adding to the region’s educational resource base.
Steering Committee
The Steering Committee for the Institute for Public Policy is charged with facilitating, coordinating and communicating the mission of the Institute with other administrative and academic units of the University. Additionally, the committee advises the Director, Executive in Residence, and Program Administrator on all operational issues of the Institute.

Advisory Board
In 2006, an Advisory Board was established to advise the University on the activities and evolution of the Institute, to promote the activities of the Institute in the broader community, and to assist the Institute in fulfilling its mission.
The Advisory Board, which meet twice annually, includes the President of Roger Williams University (or designee), the Mayor of the City of Providence (or designee), active public policy researchers, public administrators and elected government officials, community groups, the not-for-profit sector, and the private sector. The Director and Resident Executive will also be members of the Advisory Board.
